I have a degree in Modern History and Politics. I am also a trained midwife with clinical experience in developed and developing countries.
As part of my award, I took the MSc Reproductive and Sexual Health Research at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I am now doing a PhD on involving men in maternity care in Burkina Faso.
My PhD research project aims to test an intervention on male involvement to understand whether this is a useful strategy to improve care-seeking and promote healthy behaviours among postpartum women. Specifically, we wish to see whether this invervention will improve the uptake of postpartum contraception, postpartum care attendance and the practice of exclusive breastfeeding. The project is a randomised controlled trial (RCT).
My project is financed by the Strengthening Evidence for Programming on Unintended Pregnancy (STEP UP) Consortium: http://stepup.popcouncil.org/
The project is carried out in collaboration with AfricSante, a health research NGO based in Bobo DIoulasso (Burkina Faso): http://www.africsante.org/#&panel1-1
