The pathways in the Social Policy cluster provide parallel core research methods and core subject-specific training and a shared programme of advanced training. LSHTM and IOE each have the largest concentration of 4* (world-leading) researchers in their respective departments.

Health Services Research is an interdisciplinary field of research that underpins improvements in the way health services are financed, organised, planned and delivered. Its scope ranges from evaluation of health technologies to health policy research, drawing on many social science disciplines.

Evidence for Public Policy and Practice is an interdisciplinary field of research concerned with the way research evidence is produced and applied to inform decision-making in public policy and professional practice. Its scope ranges across all the social sciences and all areas of public policy.
